In the 1920s, a Japanese Doctor, Mikao Usui re-discovered an ancient way of channelling healing energy throughout the bady and created the Usui System of Energy Healing.

Reiki is a safe, non-intrusive healing technique for most physical ailments but it is much more than a physical therapy. It is a holistic system for balancing, healing and harmonising all aspects of the person, body, mind, emotions and spiritual well being.

The word Reiki (pronounced 'ray key') means 'universal life energy' and is the vital energy around and within all living things. It operates by working on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels and is directed automatically to the parts of the body where there is an imbalance.

Reiki is deeply relaxing and it has a pronounced calming effect as it stimulates the body's regenerative and self-healing ability. As a result, it replenishes one's vital energy and restores the body's natural balance.

Reiki supports, and can increase, the effectiveness of other treatments, such as reflexology, and yet is a treatment in itself.

Can Reiki help me?

Reiki can alleviate stress, facilitate self-development, manage pain and provide deep relaxation and balance. It can restore one's vital energy and strengthen the immune system. Reiki is suitable for people of all ages and can benefit everyone.

What can I expect?

You can either be seated or you can lie on a couch. You will be fully clothed and then all you have to do is to close your eyes and relax. I can either lay my hands gently on your body in a sequence of positions from the head to the feet or if you are uncomfortable with this, you can still receive an effective treatment without being touched. Your body will automatically draw in as much energy as is needed and it will travel to where it is most needed. During the treatment you may experience several sensations as the energy flows these may include: a mild tingling, warmth or coolness.

After the treatment you will require a drink of water to help your body re-hydrate. You may feel a little light-headed. You will certainly be very relaxed and you may even have slept during the session. You will feel refreshed as a result of the state of deep relaxation your body and mind has experienced.
